What won’t this system fix?
Just two damage types:
- Bent wheels. Refer these to a shop that specializes in straightening wheels.
- Chrome wheels. Also refer these to chrome specialists.
What will this system fix?
Almost any cosmetic repair can be performed:
WheelPro repairs wheels with a “turned metal” finish.
- OEM and custom painted wheels. All shades of silver, from light to dark.
- Wheel “lip” damage. Because lips are the widest point of the wheel, 80% of all repairs are to the outer-most 10% of the wheel.
- Wheel “face” damage. Occasionally, the face of wheels get cut and scraped. These require more sanding, paint, and labor, so charge extra for repairs to the face of wheels.
- “Turned” metal finish wheels. Yes, these wheels with a “turned” metal finish can be repaired with our very brightest shade of silver paint.
Why leave the wheel ON the car?
For speed and simplicity. There will be times when you need to rotate the wheel around for access. Just move the car forward or backward a few feet. And no need to mask off the rotors or calipers: you’ll see no overspray from our airbrush.
What kind of paint is this?
Sherwin Williams solvent-based urethane basecoat / clearcoat:
- Excellent basecoat coverage with minimum paint.
- Clearcoat is chip-resistant, long lasting, and high-temperature resistant.
- Spray in temperature from 10° – 120°.
- Leak-free bottles ensure that paint won’t freeze in the cold or dry out in the heat.

Will the EPA let me spray this paint?
Yes. You’re misting less than .5 oz. of paint from an airbrush. As much as a hobbyist uses while assembling a toy plane! However, California prohibits the spraying of all solvent-based paints and we cannot ship WheelPro to California addresses.
What else must I buy?
Just an air compressor. A small unit, $150 – $250 from a hardware store will be fine to power the air grinder and airbrush.
Is the wheel out of balance after a repair?
No. You’re grinding of an insignificant amount of material.
Can I really learn at home?
Yes. You’ll be confident enough to service your customers after about 6 hours of studying and practice.
- Buy 2 or 3 damaged wheels. Used parts yards sell these cheap.

- Read our instruction manual. Technical tips, tips for working quickly, and even sales tips. Comes in handy as a troubleshooting guide when “on the job.”
- Practice on your used wheels. Painting the wheels should come relatively easily: because the wheels are low to the ground and have a complicated shape, even minor paint flaws can’t be seen. Most techs need a few hours of practice grinding and sanding out damage so it’s “feathered out” and invisible.
