What is Chemical Guys?
An online distributor of auto detailing and washing supplies based in Inglewood, California.
How are their products?
A few quotes from a long discussion on Autopia:
“They have great products. You won’t go wrong with them.”
“Had a great deal of success with products especially the interior cleaners, worked well with extractor. Also like the waxes and polishes, they are worth the money. Shipping was a little slower, other than that ok.”
“I use CWG only before details as it does remove LSP’s when used per label instructions. I use Maxi Suds II for regular washes – its super slick, sudsy, and a gallon is only 11.95. JetSeal has become my sealant of choice due to ease of application and removal, and the fact that it adds more depth and flake pop than any other sealant ive used. I no longer use a carnauba topper, but am tempted to try 50/50. Blitz is also my favorite synthetic booster spray. Just like Jetseal, it goes on super easy and comes off just as easy, and keeps the shine and depth that normally disappears over time. I always finish my washes with a Blitz spraydown and so far my paint has stayed looking like i just gave it a full detail. Their VRP dressing is ok. It has replaced PBBNB in my lineup only because they gave me a free bottle, and im out of BNB. Their green clay is the same as Sonus green clay, but way cheaper. Products that are unanimously loved that I have yet to try: water spot remover, grime reaper, fade2black, bare bones, speed wipe (although i think FK425 is better), and ONE. Their cleaner/degreasers are super concentrated and work very well.”
How are their prices?
Prices appear to be better than high end retailer AutoGeek. They appear to be specialists in BULK orders:
“The prices are running about half of that at AutoGeek [on large, bulk orders].”
“Their bulk stuff seems like its unbeatable for the price. Saw quite a few things I’d like to try.”
“CG stuff is awesome because you get a ton of product for such a good price.”
How is their Service?
Comments are mostly positive. They have had some problems short-changing customers on orders, but seem to resolve these problems quickly:
“[forum member junebug] There was a big stink on Autopia when they got caught shipping gallon containers that were short by 8 ounces. Of course, it was all explained away and the dude that got shorted was given extra 16 once containers to make up for it. But it shouldn’t have happened in the first place if you ask me.”
“Junebug, you don’t have to go there, the person that was shorted was a member here (jlift), another member posted there as courtesy to make others aware that there may have been an issue.
Other than this inncident which they say has been resolved, I have only heard good things about their products.”
Conclusion
Chemical Guys appears to offer some great supplies in bulk at significantly discounted prices. Overall satisfaction with their customer service is positive. Be sure to read the discussion on Autopia to discover their most liked products.
